A Study in Range

West Los Angeles2023

A smaller commission, treated with the same rigour as a whole house — proof that the studio has no single look, only a single standard.

Entry hall with leaned portrait on a console and glazed garden door

The entry is narrow and glazed at the end, so we treated it as a gallery: a leaned portrait on the console, a single green glass vessel, and one framed work opposite to pull the eye through to the garden door.

In the sitting room the colour arrives all at once — rust velvet seating reflected in a full-height gilt mirror, a blackened oval console, a faceted bronze vessel and a single framed sunset. The mirror does double duty, carrying the kitchen's cream cabinetry and brass back into the room.

In the guest room, teal watercolours flank the bed and repeat in the pillows and desk chair, keeping the palette to two notes against white walls and charcoal carpet.
